The assessment involved 60 candidates and took place at the Post Basic Nursing School. A panel of 24 examiners, comprising both medical and nursing professionals participated in the examination, which encompassed three key components: OSCE, MCQ, and SEQs. The examination included 20 MCQs, 3 SEQs, and 4 OSCE stations.
The training program spanned a total of four weeks, which included three weeks of lectures and case-based discussions at the Post Basic School of Nursing. Additionally, candidates underwent one week of practical clinical training at CSTH, NIMH, and RH Ragama. The comprehensive evaluation process also included a portfolio assessment, where candidates were required to submit written analyses for five cases on comprehensive geriatric care.
The examination and training initiatives were carried out with the aim of enhancing the knowledge and practical skills of nurses in the specialized field of geriatric care.
